Firstly can we thank everyone who volunteered and came up to the ground to help. Without you and to everyone who came to support throughout the weekend we could not have achieved it. Please open the attached letter at the bottom of this page to read a formal thank you from Cambray FC.
As of 12 June, we have raised £45,510.48 – a truly marvellous achievement that will enable RED International to progress the building of another school to serve the Dalit community in India. After costs, this translates to a total of £42,203.70 that will be used to build the school.
Now to other matters. Guinness World Records informed us before the event, the current record stands at 33 hours 36 minutes. We played for a total of 35 hours. And the score? Well it was: Cambray 293 - 333 All Stars. The event was played in changing conditions. On Friday it was overcast, warm and very dry with the pitch rock hard. Saturday during the day was sunny, and then come 5pm on Saturday evening it started to rain torrentially and continued to rain heavy for 15 hours non stop resulting in a complete mud bath on the pitch and very wet players. Although we aimed to play for longer the decision was made and votes taken by all the players during an official break at the 35 hour mark to end the event, well after we played the extra time accrued during the game!
Over the next few days we will aim to put more details up about how the event went, along with more pictures in the gallery section and also add a "quotes" section to give you an insight on what was going through the players minds and also to hear how some of the supporters felt.
